GTX 1080 SC SLI vs GTX 1080 ti

I already own the GTX 1080 SC, I was in the process of buying a second one. But with the ti coming not sure if I should just upgrade. End goal is triple 4k. Couldn't do it that well with a single 1080 SC so was gana go SLI but if it's better to go ti I will

Wow 3x 4k? dual 1080s aren't gona cut it. Your better off getting 1 1080 Ti now, then buying another 1080 TI for SLI down the road.

My guess would be the 1080ti not all game work well or support SLI, but I am not an expert on GPU's.

Friend has two FE and does 4k on three 24 144 60-80s fps running at 1860-1930s
32 games 26 sli 2010 - 2017
Most of my games that don't support don't need it
From 2010 to 2017 the only game I had trouble SLI has been Mafia 2 buggy game but that's it . I mostly play first and third person shooters.
I can't predict the future but its never let me down much so far 3rd time sli 470 680sc 1080sc

I have 3 Asus PB287Q, I would be find with that my monitors max out at 60, so maybe I would be find with a second 1080 SC

I bought the monitors when they first came out, weren't many out with higher refresh rate at that price range, so ever since I have been wanting to max them out but have been only using them at 5760 x 1080

Asus 24in 144 3D 1080p I had to get 144 for eyes cant handle under 100hz get headaches plus 100fps very smooth rare to get slowdown and all maxed looks great still.saving for 27in 240hz 1440p maybe next card or these. I dont buy each line was until SLi 470sli 680sli 1080sli amd not for me.

Well now it's gotten tougher to choose since Fry's has the GTX 1080 SC for $459 with promo code, I was planning to wait for the 1080 ti ftw, but for $459 I can have a second gtx 1080 sc, all I want is triple 4k at 60 fps

Dual 1080's in SLI will last for a while. But are you planning to game on all 3 4k montiors? If so, the 1080 Ti is almost a must. From what NVidia has showed, even games just at 5k are taking over 8GB of vram that the gtx 1080 has.

Yes I want to use all three monitors on surround for 4k, honestly I mainly play racing games like assetto corsa, project cars, raceroom and I racing, also I do alot of VR, but mainly racing game since my setup is a racing cockpit. On occasion I do play games like tomb raider, Witcher etc..It's just tempting to get a second a 1080 sc for the price, pretty sure the 1080 ti ftw will be pretty hefty in price,but from the sounds of it the best thing to do is to wait and buy it to reach my goal

It should yes. Especially with Nvidia's new SLI technology for VR that allows one GPU to render only one eye.

This way you have a number of advantages:

1. No micro stuttering issues like on normal SLI.

2. VRAM can stack. (So 8GB + 8GB should indeed = 16GB)

You have convinced me I pulled the trigger on the GTX 1080 SC, worst case scenario I sell them 6 month to a year later and upgrade then, as i still don't know when the third party 1080ti will come. like I have mentioned I am waiting for the ftw edition

Was told VR Dont use Sli but its not needed 900s are doing VR fine 1000s all do fine and 1080 Shines in VR saw today for first time very smooth and response runs great friend has haswell e 6 core no overclocking

BTW 2 1080GTX FE is 26% avg and seen up 33+ % faster than just Titan X Pascal, its really noticeable faster

2 1080s are 13% avg and up 20% + faster than ti is still fair amount

Inside Disco 72-98 fps with action

Easier outside 120-144 with action

Easier inside sometime drops 100-120

2 cards 144fps all day
Also sli if done right smoother more responsive gameplay

Yes I got the card, the 1080 SC, running in sli, have not done any overclocking yet, the only game I have played because I just started playing it is Bioshock infinite on triple 1440p, not sure if it doesn't support triple 4k, I don't get the option to select 11520x 2160, but at 1440 it's still a great experience it runs smooth with no frame drops on ultra, on the single card I would get some hits here and there the lowest hitting about 45fps on ultra,now I'm consistent at 60fps, haven't had much time with midterms, but anyways still need to do more and still waiting on my hb bridge as I am using the one that came with my motherboard.

Have you had any issue with sli? I'm having issues with my center monitor going black and then image coming back it stay black for half a second.
I have center monitor plugged into GPU 1 and the other 2 monitors on GPU 2, I followed Nvidia sli set up guide. How would I know if it's the bridge that is bad?

First test each card with middle monitor to see which card it is or if it does in sli only .

Are you able to plug all monitors to the same GPU?
When I plug all the monitors on same GPU and I set up surround it reverts back to single monitor and this only happens when I plug all monitors to a single GPU. That's why I have center monitor plugged to first GPU and the other monitors plugged to the second gpu
