I am looking for a $100-ish GPU for some light gaming, I was looking at an EVGA GTX 1050 2gb for $109 on amazon or the Gigabyte RX 460 2gb for $94 on amazon. I noticed that there is a $10 rebate for the RX 460 bringing the price down to $84. Is the price drop enough to justify the lower performance of the RX 460?

I'm just getting into gaming and I just wanted to hear from someone who knows more about this stuff.

**update: There is also a $20 rebate on the 4gb RX 460 which brings the price down to $98. How valid is this option?

The 1050 outperforms the 460 by a considerable margin in most games, isn't beat by much by the 1050ti and gets beat handily by the 470. At these gpu levels vram doesn't make much difference as the gpus don't have the resources to match a need for more. A 2Gb gtx1080 would be next to useless, but by the same standards a 6Gb GT710 would be beyond asinine. AMD uses vram differently than nvidia so vram amounts aren't really equitable for argument.

The 1050 is the better card in almost every situation.

it kinda just depends. what games are you going to get into? if you're gonna be trying some AAA titles, def go with that 4 gig rx 460. 4 gb of vram is pretty much a necessity for most gaming. I'd recommend saving up a little more for an rx 470, but that is purely up to you & your preferences
