Sound Card touching Graphics Card Fan Fins

Hello:

I recently purchased a Sapphire RX480 Nitro+ graphics card but my problem is not only does it take up to slots on the motherboard but its also so large, the fans accasionally will touch my sound card (Asus Essence STX II) which I dont want to throw away and my motherboard is the ga-970 gaming so there is not much room between the x16 slot and the next PCIe slot,

Can anyone recommend a workaround for this problem or an AM3+ motherboard with similar specs to my currrent one but also with graphic card slots that are not so close to the PCI slots and it must also have PCI slots for my wifi card and a USB3 or better capablity.?

You are aware you can plug a x1 PCI express card into a full length 16x slot??

Plug the soundcard into the second 16x slot mate , you're a slot further away from the GPU then.

Thank you that sorted it, my 4am frustrated self,completely forgot you could do that, will definitely remember for my next build.

Once again, thank you, you saved me from going out and buying a new motherboard, at least for a year or so, anyway.
