Really important question guys for me im updating my pc for streaming/gaming and cant decide which cpu.I wont update for at least 5+ years so which cpu should have more future proof? Thanks for your help in advance.
Money no object and if you stream a lot, go for a build with the 1800X. If you don't stream often and game a lot. Go for the 7700K. If money is on your mind, go for the 1700 (A few reviews show that it can even be overclocked to the same level as the 1800X). If price is still on your mind and you aren't so sure on overclocking, go with the 1700X as it has XFR which pretty much does it all for you.
as of now, the r7 chips are not optimised for gaming. but in 5 years? u cant go wrong with the r7 1700x.
expect the 1700x to really shine and outperform kabylake by the end of this year. dunno abt cannon lake though...

7700k is better at single-threaded tasks, whilst the AMD CPUs are better in multi-threaded applications.
The i7 is better in most games (e.g. GTAV you will get as much as 20FPS more with the i7 vs the 1800X)
So gaming: i7 or rendering: AMD. Simple as that, lol(!)
1800x is only 5-7% better than 1700x for 20% price increase, would recommend a nice water cooler with 1700x for that price difference and it would be $500 in total. Although i going intel may be cheaper in this case, AMD has better physics scores.
