Will my motherboard support this CPU?

I have a ECS 945GCT-HM (Livermore8-GL6) Motherboard which I have already upgraded once. It originally came with Intel Celeron 420 and 512MB of DDR2 Ram. I upgraded the CPU to Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 and 2GB of DDR2 Ram.
My friend has an Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770 that he is giving me because hes upgrading his rig.
I am wondering if I can use this CPU on my motherboard. It says it doesn't support the CPU but it's the same socket (LGA775). Is this CPU to power hungry for my motherboard since it uses 136W? If I install this CPU onto my motherboard could I damage my hardware?
If I can't use this CPU what is the highest CPU I can use? Am I already maxed out with the Core 2 Duo? Also my motherboard says it supports max 2GB of Ram, would I damage my hardware if I forced 4GB of ram out of it?
Any kind of insight to this topic is greatly appreciated.

P.S. I know you guys are going to tell me my hardware is ancient and I should just upgrade to newer hardware. Please don't tell me this as I am experimenting with my older hardware and I know it's ancient. Thank you!

But to give you my answer. No, the QX9770 has a different chip set, this means that the chips on your motherboard aren't designed to work with that processor.

Also i doubt 4GB of ram would work but it won't hurt to try it, at worst your BIOS won't recognize the ram and fail to boot. Just make sure you use ram that is supported.
