Is my asus maximus hero VI compatible with a i7 7700k?

Going to upgrade my cpu in the coming week, however I am not sure of the compatibility between my asus maximus hero VI motherboard and the i7 7700k.

it's not. it uses the LGA1150 socket, the 7700k needs a LGA1151 socket, as provided for example with the asus maximus hero IX

long story short, to upgrade to this CPU you need a board with a Z270 chipset (opposed to your current Z87)

No it is not. Your board supports up to the I7 4790k.

it look like that mobo is for a 4th gen Intel CPU. if this is the case you will have to buy new ram too as 6th and 7th generation CPU's are not compatible with DDR3 RAM
