Z170-A Bio update will lock overclocking?

Hello all, I just switch from AMD to Intel, and I heard that Intel locked Overclocking for Non K intel CPUs. Now I have a Intel I5 6500, but I'm afraid to update my Asus Motherboard, so should I just keep it at it's initial version?

I'm new to the Intel scene so if anything that I've said is wrong please bear with me. I'm still trying to figure out the gist of things lol.

Not worth staying on an old bios just for an overclock as bios updates include system stability. i5-6500 is a pretty decent CPU, and will handle gaming just fine at stock speeds. Your motherboard probably already has a newer bios that doesn't allow for overclocking.

I can overclock still, but I just wanted to have it because that's still a nice perk to have :(
