Hi im running into a new problem ive never encountered before and im hoping im overlooking a simple fix.

So basically i have an old and smallish SSD on my gaming rig. About 250ish GB, which is totally insufficient for my gaming needs now, when games are like 30-50 GB big. Now i usually uninstall my old not being played games but right now i've pretty much hit a limit as my new current games are HUGE.

So i tried installing games onto my secondary HDD. So far so good, games can run properly with no issues. However i've now run into a snag. I'm trying to patch an old game i got from GOG, that i insalled onto my HDD, but the patcher says, "base game not detected". I tried to put the patch file into my HDD to run from (instead from my primary SSD's desktop), hoping that by being on the same drive it can detect it, still no joy, base game not detected.

Is there anything i can do to solve this issue? Im guessing i must be missing something fundamental, as i know of plenty of people who install games onto their secondary HDD, usually due ot having tiny SSD for just the OS.

Patchers usually read game locations from registry.
If you installed game on SSD and moved it to HDD, then registry contains info about old location.
Patcher can't find the game in old location and you get "base game not detected" error.

Either reinstall game to HDD or find, where game info is located in registry and fix it.

No, i purposed installed the game onto my secondary HDD due to having not enough space on my primary SSD.

And speaking of registry, i guess i'll try hacking the registry files and see how that goes. Onward to Google.

Edit: Ugh the links im following dont seem to be lining up with what im trying to do. Like asking me to load hives from the windows file on my secondary HDD and me finding nothing :(
