Will my CPU be compatible with my new RAM?

Hey I have an old pc that I am thinking about upgrading. The only thing that I wasn't planning on changing was my CPU, i7-4790. But the new RAM that I am getting has 3200MHz DDR4 speed but on intel's site it says that my CPU only supports "DDR3-1333/1600, DDR3L-1333/1600". Is there any point in buying that specific RAM if my CPU doesn't support anywhere near the speed the RAM runs on. And also do you think I should upgrade my CPU to a newer generation? Or is it sufficient and won't bottle neck my build with this RAM and GTX 1070.

There's not a big difference in speeds, definitely not enough to justify an upgrade. Same with your cpu, theres wasn't much of a IPC jump from 4th to 6th gen and none from 6th to 7th. Keep what you have.

DDR4 won't work with the motherboard or your 4790.
Won't even plug in.

How much faster is DDR4 than DDR3?
Should I go to i5-7600K instead of the old i7-4790? Going from i7 to i5 but 4th gen to 7th gen?
Or should I stay with i7-4790 and use DDR3 RAM instead?
I don't plan to go to 1440p. Only 1080p. But I want to be able to run every game at Max settings smoothly for at least the next year and a half

Just use what you currently have.
The 4790 is still very capable.
