I am trying to convert my dynamic disk into a basic disk. I already have all of the data backed up on a second hard drive. When I go to diskpart I: select my disk, then I select the volume that I want to delete, then when I to "delete partition" diskpart simply crashes. There is also a second partition on the disk labeled SYSTEM_DRV that is 260MB. This disk is not a boot drive and I simply use it too backup files to and to record gameplay. I would really appreciate it if someone could show me how to convert this disk back into a basic disk.

What OS? Is the dynamic disk your boot disk?

If so, you could simply do a clean installation and as a first step unpartition all existing partitions.

Or boot from something else, perhaps a Linux Live USB stick that is easily made using Unetbootin, and unpartition the entire disk then reinitialize and reformat.

You really need to provide more specific information on your current situation to get a precise answer.
