So I wanna get an actual cpu for my pc other than a AMD A8-7600 apu, and ive had my eye on one particular cpu: AMD FX-8350 , I want to know how the new cpu would affect the pc including a gtx-960 and if it is even worth it or if I should get something else.

agreed to both.

You have roughly an FX-4300 + GTX960 in terms of processing. It's really not too bad. Not the best, but not bad.

If you carefully choose your games, then also tweak properly you'll have a great experience. There are PLENTY of games that you can max out 1080p/60FPS but also demanding titles that won't run well even at lower settings.

Heck, I have a GTX1080 and just realized the last month was spent on games I didn't even need a GTX960 to run. (CnC 3, Stardew Valley, Diablo 3.. ).

The new Intel and AMD CPUs are making crazy benchmarks right now. And I'm not talking about the $800 Intel or the $500 Ryzen. I'm talking about the $150 CPUs. But you gotta buy a new mobo.
But you might want to look into finding a used amd3 or amd3+ compatible mobo/CPU from someone who is abandoning there set up for the new rig. You can find a decent mobo with ram And a 4 or 6 core processor for about $100! Pick up a New Enermax 240 AIO watercooler from Newegg for $65 and you have a better computer all around that's ready for some light to med. over clocking for just a tad more than the fx 8350. Or put a 212 air cooler and save even more if you don't like water in your PC. Then, Play more games, and save up for the new processor and mobo.

There are no new 4-core CPU's with notably better performance than what he has now by AMD. Perhaps a small gain with some new AM3+ CPU but nothing major to even begin to close the gap to Intel.

So you want him to get a used motherboard, liquid cooler, then reinstall Windows for an unknown benefit.

*Show me the benchmark proof. Proof. Link. Now.

At this point he should be holding off for RYZEN or just keep his build if he can choose/tweak to get the best experience for the next year or two.
