Looking to upgrade my old sandy 2600 to a 3770k. I'd like to OC it to 4.5 ghz, keeping it at least under 80c. I know my current hyper tx3 cooler isn't adequate enough cooling. I have a mid case and space is a concern. I would've bought the 212 evo but unfortunately it wouldn't fit. That means big air coolers aren't an option. I'm looking for a good 120mm water cooler that could meet my needs without taking up too much space, the deepcool 120 ex is what I'm leaning towards. Any input is appreciated!

Honestly not sure... I'm not a big fan of liquid coolers as the risk is there and the lower end ones are on par with the better air for the same price - but I have heard good things about the Corsair H100i (water) and the NZXT X61 (water).

I'm running 4690k @ 4.5 on an Evo212 @ 67c under load. I really think with even a slim air cooler you could hit that under 80c.

The Deepcool is a great system and maybe the best bet for you - I think it got highest ratings on this site.

If you are willing to stay with air then the Raijintek Pallas is worth checking out. It's a nice slim design and cools great.
(IMO it's not worth it going to water if you are only going 120mm as the temp difference isn't much).

Thanks for the reply. After further research I have some build quality concerns with those liquid coolers. Seen many users on this site and others with break issues, fluid leaks, fried cards, not good.
I hadn't considered that cooler but it might be the best bet for me. Any other suggestions for air/liquid cooler?

Thanks again. I ended up purchasing the corsair h80i v2 cooler, it should do the job well. It performed better than the 212 and nearly on par with the h100i. At least in the benchmarks I saw.

Hi, I know this was a while ago, but how did your cooler perform? Did you get it to 4.5GHz? I have the same processor and I'm delaying a major upgrade so I'm thinking overclock to about that!

Cheers,
