out of 8 GB of ram, only 1.96 GB Available?

so for some reason my computer is refusing to use the rest of the 6 GB of ram, can anyone help me? I have tried editing the boot config but it didn't help at all

do you have 2x 4gb of ram or 4x2gb of ram?

Try running the free version of memtest86 on your ram, 1 stick at a time, any errors means stick is bad
