CPU Intek Q6600 2.4GKz . 4G DDR Ram
Monitor IIyama PLb2403 WS
Graphics Radeon 5700
OS win xp 32 bit

Will now change to Win 7 64 BIt to suit new games
Wish to play CIV 6 mainly and a few others

Looking for a graphics Card update to suit system
was considering the GTX 1060 but not sure if this will be a bottleneck ??

PSU is rated at 500

Any advise on best GRaphics card to suit do not want to upgrade a lot

Solution

First off, I would suggest upgrading to win 10. You can get it for cheaper. Second of all, pairing a q6600 with a 1060 will absolutely bottleneck to the point of no return. If you're low on budget try a gtx 1050 but you have to upgrade that CPU. And if you want to upgrade the CPU (which you absolutely need to if you plan on upgrading anything) you will need a different motherboard. Not to mention, 4GB ram will get you do where nowadays. The way I see it you're either stuck with this or you need a new PC. Sorry

Thanks for the answer, b=not the one i wanted lol
Win 7 seems more popular to what i have =read .

Whats sort of bottleneck we talking about , the 1050 in the uK is stull expensive to use as a temp measure , the 5700 i guess is old in the tooth so i could go a bit better till i get a new rig

There aren't any problems with Win 7, but its just a bit more expensive than Win 10. The bottleneck here is the fact that the q6600 is quite a budget processor while higher end 10 series cards are not. Although the bottleneck would be severe for a gtx 1080, but benchmarks reveal that you wouldn't be off that bad with a 1050.
With these specs, you can get 40-50 fps in battlefield 1 on high settings:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz / 3GHz /
MSI G41M-S03 Socket 775 Motherboard / ( MSI H81M-P33 )
8GB DDR3 Ram
Zotac Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 4GB
500w PSU (This card only requires 300w)
Windows 10

If it can run BF1 that civilaztion 6 should be no problem.

Can you get the total price for both of them? I think I can make some good tweaks but I want to be in your budget
