So, I've recently started building a new rig and recently tried to boot it up. Except when I do, the debug LED on the motherboard is consistently displaying the codes 45 to 49, which the manual tells me is an early memory initialisation.
I have tried everything, from resetting cmos, switching ram, resetting the CPU etc. and I'm still getting the same codes. Is there anything I could be missing?

Specs:
Motherboard: MSI Z170A GAMING M5
CPU: i7 6700k
RAM: 2x8gb Corsair Vengeance DDR4-3000

The cooler master hyper 212 evo, I'll try to loosen the pins to see if that resolves it

I'll be honest, I have no idea. I can only assume the latest version. How could I tell without booting up?

I removed the heatsink, and got the code 00, which apparently means there's a problem with my CPU, I might need to take it into a tech shop to see if that's correct

Check your socket for any bent pins. When you said you removed the heat sink do you mean you took it out and tried to boot with no cooler? Or did you swap out a different cooler? Also, this may sound like a stupid question, but is your CPU power cable plugged in properly?

I took the cooler off and try a boot with no cooler attached. The cables definetely plugged in properly, and I can't see any bent pins in the socket

I lightened the coolers grip down to the point that there was no pins holding the cooler on ( I had the case horizontal so I didn't need to keep flipping the case every 10 mins)

I'll have to check tommorow, it's getting late. But thanks for the advice.
