Good temps for my CPU and GPU?

So to start off, I have a pretty nice gaming laptop that I've had for maybe 6-8 months now. Recently though I've been a little conscious about my CPU and GPU temps and wanna make sure that they aren't too bad. I would honestly rather be told that I'm just over thinking it and that I'm crazy about this stuff than something like, "You're processors are overheating a bit."

So I have an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700 HQ CPU @ 2.600Hz and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060.

With this CPU and GPU, what would be the ideal temps when not gaming at all and just running a few programs like Chrome and Steam. Also, what would be the ideal temps when actually gaming for at least an hour and having higher settings for the most part? Also if my processors were to heat up a little bit, what would be the best way to really cool them down?

Solution
I would say that anything below 90 degrees Celsius for the GPU is safe. For the CPU, as long as you stay below 85 degrees Celsius you should be perfectly okay.

Well that's a relief then. I've been freaking out if either of them were at like 75 Celcius and one of them hit 80 I would pretty much just stop what I was doing, which would most likely be playing a game. It's honestly random when I'm playing games and pushing it pretty hard because last night I just in the main menu of Warframe (pretty intensive with graphics if maxed) and my GPU was at 80. But when I was playing in my Overwatch tournament with friends for about 2+ hours, I was only getting a max of like 55-60...

I've also been wondering one thing recently since the desk that I use my laptop on will vary depending on me being at my mom's or dad's house. Does the material of the desk that I have the laptop on effect the temperature at all? I'm curious because it kind of seems like the average temps are lower when on my wood desk as oppose to my glass desk. Part of me is also kind of thinking that I'm crazy and over thinking it xD

Thanks so much for the help so far though. :) That puts less stress on my back truly so I don't have to worry about the temps so much anymore.

As long as you're not consistently sitting in the 85-90 range you will be absolutely fine.
