Hello.

my issue is that streaming videos (up to 1080p) in local network is little laggy, what i mean is that during stream video seems to hang to buffer from time to time. So i am looking of putting gigabit switch or router to my setup, which of there two is my best bet here for least amount of cash.

Speeds i get from ISP are not limited, but my gear reach around 55Mb/s downlink and 22Mb/s uplink
My network layout:

Huawei B315s-22 LTE modem/router (4x1gbit lan ports) <--- 2x mimo LTE anthenas

V

tplink archer c50 router, dual band wifi (4x100Mb/s ports, 1x100Mb\s ehernet port)

V

PC i am streaming from with 1gbit LAN card integrated in MOBO.

+ 2 wifi clients

+ tplink powerlineadapter (100Mb/s port) > cheap asus router( 100Mb/s ehternet port)

Main issues come with streaming from main PC to wifi clents (android tablet 5GHZ wifi supported/ panasonic smart TV 5Ghz wifi supported) over both channels from tplink router.

Any ideas how to optimise my current setup with least amount of money? Clients at other end of house use wifi from tplink powerline adapter + asus router combo have no problems with their low usage and they never use local streaming.

55 MB/s is not bad. Seems you are running 1 gb from provider , router to pc. I 'm surprised it lags as the pc has a 1 gb network, BUT does it run with hard drive speeds at sata3 ? My older pcs lagged until I started the upgrades. The last upgrade was a mobo with sata3 hard drives.

My other thought is the r45 cables, but ive never had issues with cables. I do like everything hardwired.

So then it comes down to the wireless signal. I have a cell and tablet, and tv same speeds you talk about. Ya I have issues too. Most my movies that I stream are 720, just because of this. Some of the bigger files are very laggy, and its because so much audio in the file needs to buffer. MKV files do work but again file size.

otherwise hardwire your tv

Looks like your weak link is the TP-Link Archer C50 Router. It only has 10/100 LAN ports and not the fasted 5Ghz wireless speeds. I run everything I can hard wired, Cat 6/6A/7, and that is all Gigabit from the router ports through the switches to the devices. My slow links are the devices (Roku) which still are running 100Mb.

So, i would need replacement for it with a gigabit router, becouse if i connect 100Mb/s link router it would still bottleneck then?

All my cables are cat5e

I found this cheap router, used netis gear before and they offer decent quality. I wonder if this would do better. http://www.kilobaitas.lt/Marsrutizatoriai/Netis/WRL_ROUTER_1200MBPS_1000M/4P_D/WF2780/CatalogStoreDetail.aspx?CatID=PL_563&ID=682159

Yes the 100Mnps would still be the weak link.

The router listed would be an improvement. You may want to look at one that supports MIMO or multi stream.

All my network hardware is Gigabit Netgear.
