I've been using Furmark for ages, I don't know why but I just now looked into it real world applicability and a lot of people are proclaiming Furmark as "unrealistic", so now i'm kind of wondering if I am using the best or correct stress test for testing my overclock.

What do you guys think? I've seen people suggest Heaven or 3DMark before, is it a matter of preference?

When it comes to stress testing Furmark is still the one tool that gets your GPU burning. THe reason people say it is not a real-world-example because of the workload. WIth Furmark your GPU is running at Max. as long as you run Furmark, something that is unlikely with any "normal" tool you would normally use. Another reason is that 3DMark is running different tests that use different parts or rather get handled different by your GPU. So for a real-world-test go with 3DMark. For a simple power-usage/temperature test go with Furmark.
