Though i hate java, it is required for one of my work websites. So today i have removed the older version of java and installed the most newer version of java available from the oracle website. version 8 update 121.
Strangely at the end of the installation it crashed saying Java Platform SE binary has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program.

When i click close the program a popup appeared stating the installation is succesful. But none of the websites are recognising Java and i get the same error message whenever a java program is run in the websites. Even the control panel applet crashes with the same error message.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, installed 3 different lower versions and all of them had the same problem. I tried both 64 and 32 bit versions, but all of them crashed with the same error message. But un-installation runs without any problems and gets uninstalled fine.

Here is the windows event log if it helps

Nothing worked. I had to format the system and build it from the scratch again.

Thank you all for all the suggestions.
