I currently have a Phenom II X4 980 BE
other components:
MB: ASUS Crosshair V Formula AM3+
RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB)
GPU: ASUS GeForce GTX 960 STRIX
CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H100i GTX Extreme
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 1300

Stock :
3.7 Ghz
CPU Voltage: 1.37500
CPU/NB Voltage: 1.00000
Multiplier Ratio: 18.5

OC :
4.2 Ghz
CPU Voltage: 1.58125
CPU/NB Voltage 1.26875
Multiplier Ratio: 21
CPUZ

My goal is to get an oc that's around 4.5-4.7 and is stable for a 24 hour prime95 run.
current max temp is 45C I dont really want to go above 50C

or would it just be better to get an FX9590 to increase performance so I dont risk overvolting the motherboard?

Solution
Your mobo supports 140w processors, that's a 220w processor. So you need a new mobo.

And that's the problem supplying 220w watts through the vrms is tough, requires cooling, and higher rated components, I'm not sure there's ever been 200+w processors before, so there's little experience or expertise.

what is wrong with the 9590? can you explain with numbers stats and bench marks and provide a "better" solution for the same price that it would cost me to upgrade?, cost of the 9590 on newegg is CAD$189.99 currently and I wouldnt need to change ram, cooler or motherboards
