Greetings,

So I finally killed my Lenovo Y50 , actually it kinda ...committed suicide and stopped working by itself,,

Building a gaming HTPC , the case is the Silverstone ML08-B H, I know it's better to use blower style GPU in tight spaces cause it blows the hot air outside of the case, which prevents additional heat inside the whole case or increasing the temperature of the other components..

But in case of the ML08 the GPU space is closed "kinda" and the case allows some air through to the GPU and CPU

Thing here is that the open air performs and overclocks better,, the cheapest Rx 480 I found here in Canada was the Asus dual 4GB $220 whereas the cheapest blower style was $290

Based on all those facts which one should i get for a stable gaming HTPC?

Also should I add an exhaust fan to the case from the GPU side if I went with the open style ? Which will increase noise of course .

Thanks !

i wouldnt suggest an open air GPU for a case this small, you need lots of space and airflow for these type of coolers to work properly, i have an NZXT S340, a small ATX case and the space constraints severely hampered the cooling of my old Zotac 1070 AMP!, the card dumps so much hot air in the case the exhaust fans have a hard time getting it out of the case, even at max speed.. card always ran above 77C and often above 80C on higher loads, so i sold it and got a 1070 FE, it runs cooler than the AMP!, around 73C @ 80% fan speed, and now i dont need the exhaust fan to run at max mainly because the GPU dumps Hot air outside the case, and i have my Corsair H100i as intake, overall, the system is much quieter at idle and about the same at...

In smaller cases I always tend to lean towards blower type cards as they are not dumping hot air into the case.

And id suggest getting an exhaust fan to get rid of the hot air produced by the CPU, you wouldnt need an exhaust fan for the GPU
