internal hard drives

Solution

You'll just install the extra harddrive as normal. Since you're going to save some games on it, there won't be any need for formatting.
It will act as extra storage for you in the explorer.

No. Your PC will not overheat because of you have 2 internal HDD's powered on. They won't generate that much heat (around 30-35 degrees Celsius operating temp).
They will be fine even if you ran your PC for 20 hours straight.

If you plan to just plop it in as extra storage, then no. Otherwise I'd suggest you to format, by if it's just for some extra storage then there would be no reason.
