Removing hard drive

I just removed my hard drive while the pc is on, but nothing happened. I restarted and there was no error message even when there is no hard drive. I am really confused right now. If anyone have a explanation please tell me.

What do you mean? Removing any component while the computer is On is never a good idea. If your computer starts, runs Windows and such, that means you have another Drive. A Hdd, SSD or M.2 and that Windows is installed there. That means that de drive you removed was not your boot drive.
