Hello, I currently fix computer on the side ( for a little cash), and my Manager from the store i currently work at (pretty laid back retail store). One of my Assistant Manager's was having a problem with her computer and of-course i gladly accepted her computer to fix.
they bought a graphics card from amazon ( a cheap 40$) just for a little better quality graphics and ever since her husband installed it, they have had problems.

here is the problem previous to me obtaining the computer and what the initial problem was:

1.) the computer was not sending video signal to the computer screen
2.) the mouse and keyboard does not show any life once you turn on the computer
3.) once you start it up, the computer does run power to the hard drive, disk drive, and all the fans are working properly

here is what i found after looking at the computer

1.) There was the common OLOD (Orange Light of Death)
Solved: i took out the CMOS battery and drained the capacitors and there was no longer OLOD

2.) i still don't have any video coming from the computer at all (the computer doesn't recognize the input)

3.) i reduced the RAM card down to 1 stick, pulled out the graphics card and tried the display ports that are integrated with the motherboard.

4.) i've tried the standard vga cable, dvi cable and the HDMI cable, as well as adapters (VGA to DVI, DVI to HDMI,) and i still don't see any output tot he computer monitor

question: Is there anything else that could potentially be done? is there a mother board issue (i tried looking at all the capacitors and everything looks fine)?, and lastly how come i don't get any power to the mouse or keyboard via usb?

Solution
Take the GPU out, using onboard intel iGPU to upgrade the BIOS. After that switch back the GPU to boot the PC.

By the way, what GPU did she get? Do you check what PSU is in the Dell PC? usually it will be less than 300W, because the PSU may have problem to power the GPU she got.
