Hey guys, I have a quick question, I'm about to do a intel build but I need alittle help with which cpu to choose. So the two that ive narrowed down after alot of research are i7 6700K or i5 7600K I'm not sure which to get so I'm asking the forum community for alittle help. Just so you guys know this is for a new gaming rig.

Solution
I agree with Bignastyid. I just upgraded my system to z270 and the i7-7700k and absolutely love it. I am only running it at 4.6ghz overclocked and games are so much more enjoyable now. Also if you have a z170 board you could possibly just do a bios update and then be able to drop the 7700k right in without having to go to z270. However I might add that even though you say price isn't important the prices have come down on both the Kabylake 7700k and the skylake 6700k. I recently paid $299.99 for my 7700k and that was not a rebate or any special sale. The 6700k was going for $259.99 and with prices being so close I chose to make the jump to kabylake.

honestly though, what are you not sure about? idk what the question is, really. the 6700k is plain better than the 7600k. the only reason to get an i5 instead of an i7 is because you can't afford the latter.

also, if money isn't an issue, get an i7 6900k ;) (actually that's bad advice for a gaming machine)

Wow there are so many z270 boards out there, kinda makes my head hurt alittle. is one better then the other? or is it down to brand loyalty?

the main point to remember is that there is very little performance difference between z270 brands/boards where the CPU is concerned. overclocking may be a bit better on a higher end board with more power phases. just pick one you can afford or one that you think looks nice or one that has the features you want.
