Hi, I just thought of playing Army Men RTS, which is really old but the thing bugging me is that it only supports a max reso of 1248 x 1024 reso that is 4:3. I have a widescreen monitor so is there any way I can make the game run in 16:9 (1920 x 1080) resolution?

Solution
all i can find of it on thir website is a driver

http://www.benq.com/product/monitor/gl2460/downloads/

try to find the exact info on the osd manual to set this property, if it exist, you will find it there

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/755782/Benq-Gl2460.html?page=26#manual

probably this option, display mode, set to aspect

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/755782/Benq-Gl2460.html?page=31#manual

if it doesn't exist the option, then you will have to find other software solution to force the game to show the resolution and the black bars or get a old monitor to only play this game

the game itslef doesn't support that resolution

on some games you can edit some config files for the game

i did a small search on google about this change, couldn't find anything relevan, perhaps you can do a search for army men rts conversion widescreen pc to see if you can find something helpful

or perhaps just run it at that resolution and ask the monitor to not to stretch the image, just leave the black bars at both sides of the game screen

I've researched a lot but to no avail. I am willing to play with black bars, can you tell me how to "tell" the monitor not to stretch the image? Thanks a lot!!

Thanks, I already found that exactly as you described. Thanks a lot! I shall play in peace!

The most obvious first place to look is at the display driver's control panel. For example, using NVIDIA's Control Panel:

NVIDIAControl_Panel_Adjust_Desktop_Size_And_Position.jpg

Using Aspect ratio scaling will prevent the image from being distorted.

exactly, the option was in the monitor, the GPU didn't have anything to do with it
