Hi guys, I built a PC for my Dad (he is a gamer) with a GTX 1060 (6GB) which only has 1 DVI and no VGA; however his secondary screen is a VGA only connection. I managed to hook it up by enabling secondary monitor via onboard GPU in MSI Bios (M250 Gaming board), and everything is working good.

I am curious about the following:

1) I set the onboard GPU to use 256Mb of RAM. That secondary screen is basically used to run video while doing whatever on main screen or having a web page open etc.... is 256Mb a good number?

2) Will doing this setup negatively impact the discrete GPU (GTX 1060) performance?

3) Are there any negatives to this setup other than instead of 16GB of Ram the rig has 15.7GB due to onboard GPU taking the 256Mb?

Thanks!

Solution
Only negative is that he wont be able to run games on the secondary screen, and it may effect at some level 3d acceleration of webpages (probably not that big)
