computer wont detect hard drive

my hard drive wont be detected by my computer , although the power light on the drive is on , i tried checking the disk management and it wont show there , is there any way i can get the data from it ?

Can you go into disk management and blow away the partition(on that drive), and re-create the partition and backup data then format it.
