Confused about which memory to use

Hi all,

I'm going to upgrade my PC by replacing the Mobo, CPU and 16GB Memory and I've decided on the Mobo and CPU but not the memory. Basically as I'm confused about the memory. The Mobo will be an Asus B350 Prime Plus with a Ryzen 1700 (non X) CPU.

If I'm reading it correctly looking at the QVL for the Mobo it seems you are throwing away your money if you buy high speed memory that does not support DOCP. eg: The Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 only runs at 2133 MHz. Correct?

I will initially be not OC the CPU but would like to try it later, so what memory should I be buying without breaking the bank? Please help my confusion.

TIA

Greg

I'm not QUITE sure, but I think the ####x amd nomenclature is equivalent to the ####k of intel, which would be the overclocking variant. Without that overclocking variant it's probably limited on what speed of ram you can use.

I don't think you are correct. Both the 1700 and 1700X can be OC on a B350 or B370 Mobo.
