I am a first time pc builder and i tried to work with a budget. I had a problem with my motherboard after I was almost done with the build, realizing that I needed a bios update to make it compatible. Since I dont want to go through the trouble of getting a new CPU and updating, I am just getting a new motherboard that I can guarantee is compatible. I want to know if there is a good place to sell the motherboard or if I should just put it on Craigslist or eBay.

You will not get the full price if you sell it on eBay/CL unless it's a collector item, and it is not. Moreover, you'll be responsible to make it working for your buyer.

Just return it, even with restocking, this will br your best deal.

I wouldn't recommend selling it. That should be your last resort.
