Hi guys,

i just bought a prebuild pc 1 month ago because my old one kept shutting down.

i bought an

gtx 1070 kfa2,
7700k,
Gigabyte GA-Z270X-Ultra Gaming,
16gb ram,
Enermax iVektor Midi-Tower (ATX),
735 Watt Raidmax Thunder V2 RX-735AP 80+ Bronze,
Alpenföhn Brocken ECO.

My temperatures seem very unstable and super high from what i can see in HWMonitor.
In league of legends around 70-76°. In gta 5, bf1 they go up to 90° or even higher. That's while my room temperature being pretty cold. Below 20°. Once my pc turned off while playing bf1 but i am not really sure if it was due to overheating cpu. (don't know how to check it)

So basically i made the mistake of buying a cheap cooler to a pretty hot cpu and i am not very talented at fixing stuff or working with electricity, pcs..

I wonder if i the Noctua NH-D15 will fit in my case and motherboard, without touching the ram or something and if it is a good choice to begin with.

Could my psu be a problem too?

greetings, chillzone.

The Brocken eco is on par with a 212 evo (if not slightly better)

It should be plenty for a 7700k unless you're pushing big overclocks.

Those temps are way way more than they should be - you should be mid 50s while gaming & maybe low 70s if pushing a 100% stress test.

You need to check the fitting of the cooler , it should be doing way way better than it is.
The specs for that case says it supports coolers up to 179mm tall so the nh-d15 and most other large air coolers should fit. What ram are you using? How many case fans are you using and in what position (ie one rear exhaust, one rear exaust and one intake, 2 intake). Your ambient room temps sound fine so that leaves sorting out overall case airflow and whether or not your ram is short enough to fit the nh-d15.

thank you for the reply.

my roomtemps are good because it is winter (crap isolation), in the summer it gets super hot. above 30° around 35°

my ram:

16384MB HyperX FURY (2x 8GB) shitty ram it's DDR4-2666

mny cpu went up to 100° and my computer shut down while playing bf1 (LOL) :(

i have no idea how to check my fans. No clue how to check my airflow.
How can i check it? All i can say is that the fans are turning. Is there an indicator?

Ditto on the NH-D15
I have it and its extremely effective. But, its huge and clunky, and covers 90% of my (pretty) mobo. in hindsight I would go with the corsair h100 or the h115

I use a $20 Gammax 400 with a blue LED on my i7-7700k @4.6ghz and I idle at 30-33c and when playing a heavy game I get up to around 55-58c. I haven't owned any other aftermarket cooler but I've read this one is either on par or slightly worse than the Hyper 212 Evo but so far its been working wonders. Seeing this, I would assume the Noctua would be amazing.

PS: While gaming my CPU usage has never gone over 50% even in the hardest hitting games, so I ran a stress test to push it to 100% load and with my OC it got up to 72-73 around the 3rd consecutive test. 68 was the max without the OC.
