Is the motherboard dead?

Hello everyone,
Yesterday I encountered the weirdest issue I've ever had to witness.
I built a new rig with brand new components, **except for the motherboard and the ram.**

I put everything together being as careful as possible, (it's my fourth build I know my way around stuff). Then I powered it up, no display, no power to keyboard and mouse. Bummer. Did everything humanly possible, switched psu, rebuilt the computer entirely, reset cmos, short the bios like instructed, I mean everything you can do. Then a guy gave me a hotfix, unplug the psu, hold the case power button for 1 minute, plug the psu back on and fire it up. Praise the lords it worked!! Installed windows on it and all the goodies. Restarted the computer, same problem, no signal to display, no power to keyboard and mouse. Tried the miracle hotfix again, no success. Now I am completely out of options. I've looked all over the internet, do I have to go to Best-Buy to get a full diagnostic of my build? Or is it clearly the motherboard? Asked the company for a rma, was wondering if it happened to anyone on here... I mean the computer worked for a good half hour and then nothing! No beeps, no weird power cycle where computer powers up and shuts down. The computer stays on like everything is fine??

Specs:
-i5-6600k
-h100iv2
-asrock z170 pro 4
-4x4gb 2400mhz ddr4
-256gb m.2 + 500gb ssd
-evga g3 750w psu
-core p3 case

Thank you everyone for your input!
Sam

well your so called hotfix involved the psu. so I'm thinking it's a power problem.
when you say right now nothing works do you mean nothing like no beep no fan no light? absolutely nothing? or the fans turn on and some lights come up such as gpu light, gpu fan and beeps but no display?

all that hotfix does is to get rid of excess static electricity going around in your pc case/mobo. nothing else would it accomplish.

so possible fixes:
1. replace the round cmos battery. Get it out of the mobo and goto the drugstore or the mall and get a new replacement. take note of the model. there are so many round batteries on sale.
2. replace your psu.
3. take mobo out again and check for missing/wrong place standoffs. (you may already have done so.)

if i understand correctly, the trick used is related to discharge completelly the mainboard, also avoid any sstatic charge present

do you have another psu? differnet ram?

sounds like you have a malfunctioning mainboard more than anything but those parts, psu and ram sometimes will give those symtoms when they have problems so it is worth to try

The fans are turned on, the rgb works, the gpu and the sound car are lighting up and fans are turning, everything is powered up like its supposed to be, but I get no signal on my monitor/keyboard/mouse. But motherboard gives me no beep. I am going to buy a new cmos battery today and see how that turns out. I tried with another brand new psu and same problem. I checked for standoffs and everything is perfectly fine. I didn't think of buying a new cmos battery, I'm going to see how that goes, I'll keep you updated!

the battery just keeps some configs for ram and date, the system stiill should boot with a dead battery

try to find another ram module but i think the mainboard is the problem here

weird the trick worked on it, never had to do such trick on a mainboard

he just told us that all the fans and the lights turn on, so it's not for sure that it's the mobo. could be, but not a sure thing.
maybe a bad monitor? did he plug in the hdmi slot into the gpu and not the motherboard? No beep but fans and rgb lights on is actually good news.
no lights on the keyboards just means that windows or bios did not start.
have you tried turn the pc off and turn it on and then hit the delete key like no tomorrow for five minutes?

My monitor is working fine, i'm currently using it, its hooked to my laptop at the moment.
I tried with the hdmi cable in my motherboard port and on my gpu but none of the two works.
Everything is connected fine on my motherboard.
I still have no beeps but fans and rgb lights are on, it's like the i/o panel with the peripherics that you can plug in doesn't connect to anything.
My rig is running fine, no weird noises, no rattling, no weird smell, no burning smell. It acts like if I powered it up but with no monitor/keyboard/mouse plugged into it.
Completely baffled by the events, I've never seen such a thing.

I tried to boot up the rig with the gpu completely disconnected from the system and I still have the same problem...
So weird.

I can try some other ram, I don't have any at the moment but I'll try to find some... Thing is, it booted up fine with one stick of ram, then the system wouldn't boot after the restart. I can't seem to put my finger on it.

What I don't get is that my system worked fine for at least half an hour before I restarted it..........

Ok UPDATE!!! The motherboard speaker thing was broken so I used another one. When I power my computer up, it does 3 beeps, pause, 3 beeps, pause, 3 beeps etc. What does it mean?

yes, ram, reinsert the ram or get another ram

but as you said, it worked once, so could be the ram slots too, so the mainboard itself could be damaged

that or static charge accumulated doing fun things

try to clean slots and reinsert ram modules
