So this is the first PC I Build on my own. I built it around February 2016. I have an i7 6700k with a stock cooler. The reason for the Stock cooler is that I don't know how to Overclock and had no plans on doing it but I bought the 6700K for Future Proof my purchase. However January this year 2017 I decided to check my CPU Temps for the first time. Well my temps were reaching 100c and I believe it was actually going over but HWmonitor couldn't read them that high!

After furthering doing inspections I realized that the stock Intel Cooler (Copper) that I had installed wasn't pushed in all the way. So one of the small pins on the back of the MoBo was halfway in while the others were fully in, that was making the CPU Not cool properly. So I removed the Cooler, cleaned the thermal compound, put new thermal compound on the CPU and placed the Heatsink all the way in. Automatically my temeperatures went down to 85c! instead of 100c but hey? this is still too hot from just 30 minutes of Gaming.

How do I not have melted plastic or how did nothing catch on fire? is beyond my understanding. My Computer is 100% Functional as of this point.

So, I decided to upgrade to the F20 BIOS, but turns out F20 BIOS is only for Kabylake CPU, it had automatically set my voltage to 1.36 and 1.38 After finding a tutorial on downgrading the F20 BIOS I managed to put F8 BIOS again and automatically my Vcore Voltage went from 1.36 to 1.22 on BIOS. Oh NOTE that the F20 BIOS also didn't allow to downgrade to earlier version but I found a workaround solution.

I have turned down the Voltage on my CPU Significanlty but I reached my max level that I could turn it down and keep the system stable. Yes I know Stock coolers are horrible and that this CPU doesn't come with a stock Cooler but I wasn't going to do any Overclocking, and remember this is just the First PC I ever built all by my self.

With all that being said, I ordered an M9i by Cryorig and its coming in next week. Its my first after market cooler since getting into PC gaming late 2012.

My concern is from what I've read and started to learn my 6700k has super high temperatures and I doubt its all due to the Stock Cooler, even if installed properly I shouldn't reach those MAX temps.

Should I RMA My motherboard? if I did an RMA complaining of High CPU temps, would they send me back the same MoBo or a new one? I want a new one with everything fresh, brand new. I figured better RMA so in the future when I learn to Overclock my MoBo will be ready! also I know I said I bought the M9i but I won't overclock with it. If I did Overclock (OC) I would buy something better but its not my time for that right now

Am I being Paranoid and Ignorant or is there something sincerely wrong here with my temps?

Here is a screenshot after doing a Stress test for 15 minutes. Notice the Voltage.

Thanks!

the .1 of a voltage from the old bios to the new one is just a programing error or read error. nothing to worry about or rma the mb. with any cpu depending on the waffer it was cut can run at low voltage or can be a crappy cpu and to be stable would need higher cpu voltage. on new cpu they will only throttle if the temps get to hot. as long as the cpu did not get to hot your rig in gaming would not shut down. the temps you want to look at are the sitting temps. if there to high 40-50c then the cpu or mb having issues.

This was before I fixed my CPU Fan.

This was with F8 BIOS (Downgrade from F20) with Voltaged lowered. These are my current temps. (It might be same screenshot from above)
