Should i upgrade my rig,the specs are
I5 4690k 4.0ghz
Msi z97 sli krait edition
16 gb hyper x fury 1866mhz 4x4
Corsair h100i aio liquid cooler
Evga gtx 970 ssc
250gb samsung 850 ssd
1tb western digital hard drive
Evga fully modular PSU 750w
Wifi card
Windows 10
Nzxt s340 white
I could get between £600-700 and could build a g4560 and a 1050ti for that price,is it worth it or should i keep my rig and just upgrade the gpu or sli 970

You have a pretty solid system and to go with a totally new rig with that budget would be a waste. The 4690K is still a very solid processor and in this day and age 970 crossfire isn't recommended. With 650 pounds you could get a solid upgrade.

Runs battlefield 1 on full ultra settings at 100 fps

I have the 4690K paired with a 970 FTW so I'm in the same boat you are sans the money. Moving from the 4690/970 to the G4560/1050 would be a downgrade and not a move I would make.

Is the 1080 more GPU than the CPU can handle? Yes. Is that a bad thing? No. It offers longevity. When you do upgrade the 1080 will be there ready to handle any CPU you choose. 7700K?
