I have a custom PC that works great. I often use it with a TV over HDMI. However, i tried to connect it a new monitor (without success). Now i can't connect it to _any_ screen. I'm trying the previously-fine TV and previously-fine HDMI cable, but the TV receives no signal at all.

It boots like normal (to Ubuntu), judging by fans and lights. I am on the correct TV input channel.

I also tried VGA, without success.

I'm new to this forum. If i've made any faux pas, or posted to the wrong place, please let me know.

I'm guessing that the new monitor has disrupted something related to my graphics card. What should i try next?

UPDATE: While the cause is still a mystery, I figured out how to get the original TV to work again, by bypassing my graphics card. I am currently (2118 EST) investigating more.

Solution: Turns out i was wrong about which HDMI port on my PC was connected to what internal component. I examined the connections in my PC and found a working port that goes thru my graphics card. HDMI out from my motherboard is still mysteriously broken (driver install issue maybe?), but that is not a big problem for me right now. Thanks!

If you have a separate video card, the onboard video often gets disabled.
