So my question is if i get a higher resolution display like 1440p or 4K,will games use more system RAM or they only use more VRAM? Is 8Gb still enough? The reason why I don't want to buy more now because i have 4x2Gb and I don't have more RAM slots on my Mobo,plus I'm planning to upgrade my CPU next year,and that means a new mobo and new DDR 4 RAM,and I don't want to buy DDR3 just to use it for 1 year. VRAM is what you need but yes 4Gb will also be limiting you.
I doubt many games would even open at 4Gb before you ever needed that VRAM.

I have 8 Gb RAM not 4. I'm planning to get a GTX 1080 Ti when it comes out with the display, and I have a 4770K,so at that resolution with high settings I doubt that will be a bottleneck,maybe on 1080p. My RAM is 2000 Mhz by the way so it isn't even slow RAM,it's just that it's only 8 Gb, 4x2 Gb so I all my RAM slots are occupied.
