Hi,

As a gamer I play(ed) a lot of online video games, which makes it pretty obvious I need a stable internet connection.
But of course that's not the case - when my family of 7 is home completely demolishing the internet connection when on Wi-fi.
I know for sure that it has something with wi-fi to do, as every time I turn it off on the router - wired connection works just fine.
So I bought another router because I thought if we used the secondary one for wi-fi only it wouldn't affect the main router - but I was very wrong. And of course, as soon as I turn the secondary router off - wired connection works just fine.

I am getting very sick and tired of this as I feel like I have tried everything.

The main router is a Technicolor TG784n and here is the secondary router.

All I'm asking for anything that might help. Whether I get a link to a router that might fit the case, or perhaps a solution that actually helps.

You can have 100 routers, they are still using the ONE internet connection that is being overloaded by you and your faimly.

Of course if you turn off wifi then none of thier wifi devices are connected and thus not using your bandwidth.

You need as good of an intenret connection as you can get.

The only other hardware option is to turn off the router funciton of your techniclolor modem/router and put it in "bridge mode" or modem only mode", and get a higher end router (not a $25 one) that has QoS settings that can prioritize your gaming traffic.

The QoS router willl help prioritize your traffic, but it cant work miracles. To game and have multiple HD video streams you need at bare minimum a 50mbps conenction.

If you have 7 people home and actively using the connection, if even 1 is trying to stream an HD movie it could lag your whole connection, wired or not, depending on your service.

I would say the solution is obviously to get rid of your family.

lol or bug your parents to get an internet package with more bandwidth
