Hi all,

I am currently getting my upgrade list together and I can't decide which motherboard to buy for my Intel Core i5-7600K build.

I went through a few reviews on motherboard between 130 and 180 EUR and the list below is what I ended up with:

Asus Z170 PRO GAMING
Asus Z170-A
Gigabyte GA-Z270X-Ultra Gaming
MSI Z170A KRAIT GAMING 3X

For this build I will also add 1 M2 SSD:
Samsung 960 EVO 250GB

I game alot, that is the biggest reason to upgrade from my Sandy-Bridge build.
I love LED's and am going to also buy the:
Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX Tempered Glas

Please help me decided which motherboard is the best for my needs.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers!

The Z270 using that processor unless you have a chip you can put in it to update the BIOS first it's the only option.
For a gaming PC the M.2 is not worth the extra money for about a 0 performance difference. Just get a regular SATA SSD.

Hey Zerk,

Is the BIOS update not possible through a DOS interface or even in the UEFI BIOS?

Thanks for letting me know tho, probably saved me alot of headache if I had bought the Z170.

Regarding the M.2, I have some extra to spare and thought this is a good chance to upgrade to M.2 I have a quite old SSD now.

Thanks again!
