So I bought a new SSD a few months ago and made it my main drive while I assigned my HDD as my secondary hard drive; however, my HDD is starting to fail, and thus I bought a new one. What are the steps that I should go about in order to install the new HDD as my secondary hard drive? Can I simply replace it or do I have to go to BIOS and change some settings?

I already backed up all my files on the HDD.

yup, that's it. plug in the new one, boot up and it'll be good to go. then drop your data onto it and go on as you did before :)

good news is if you defaulted anything to the second drive and keep the same drive letter, then it won't even miss a beat and will continue to default to that same spot. for instance i have all my download's defaulted to my d: drive download folder. swapping a new drive in will still keep all my downloads going there so long as it stays as d: drive.

Normally for an storage or (slave) HDD you don't need to make any change in the BIOS you can plug in your new HDD and the board will assign him an available slot automatically
