Gaming Mode is a function found on monitors and TVs to give the monitor a faster response time. Although it doesn't have a massive impact on performance, simply put it slightly worsens the image being displayed to grants a lower response time (often between 0.5ms and 1ms difference) so if your overall purpose for this monitor is gaming then I would recommend that you leave gaming mode enabled most of the time.

With regards to settings I would leave your resolution at 1080p and set the preset to high and then possibly turn down the shadows by 1 setting and if you're still having low frame rates then change the Anti-Aliasing to either 2x MSAA or off (I would not recommend FXAA unless you don't mind the look of it, it's...

I would leave V-sync completely alone as this can introduce micro-stuttering and potentially impact your frame rate.

I'm afraid to tell you this but unless you're going to upgrade to an AMD GPU then unfortunately you've wasted some money. Freesync is a technology exclusive to AMD graphics cards, whereas G-Sync is the technology for NVidia Graphics cards (which is what you have). I would recommend you do further research into the products you are purchasing before the purchase as you have mad a slightly ill-advised decision with your choice of monitor.
