Hello everybody, im going to building a new low to mid level gaming pc. I already have the case and psu ordered. Im wondering if the parts i have chosen would work to play modern games (gta v, black ops 3, dying light) on low to medium settings.

CPU-Intel i3 3220 at 3.30GHz, or a AMD FX 6300 6 core at 3.5GHz. I already have the i3 3220 and it would save money on that plus the mobo if i could get away with using it, or should i get the 6 core AMD FX 6300 plus a new mobo?

Motherboard-(i3 3220) stock dell motherboard, (AMD FX 6300) MSI 970 GAMING.

GPU-Radeon RX 460 4gb (windforce oc edition)

Case-Cougar solution 2

PSU-Corsair CXM 550w 80+bronze.

RAM-Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB (2x4gb)

Would these parts be okay for a mid level gaming pc? If not what would you guys recomend for a budget of around $500? And last which proccessor is better the i3 3220 or the FX 6300? I am very open to suggestions as this is my first build. Thanks in advance!

There is no general performance difference between a mini-ITX, micro-ATX or full ATX mobo, except that larger boards have a little better heat dissipation capability that can be a factor in extreme overclocking. In fact most builders today are moving towards micro-ATX builds for the convenience.

Yes, four slots is better but as long can get 8GB min and preferably 16GB of RAM, then you don't need any more.

If you do have a HP computer, watch out for compatibility issues, they are notorious for this.
If you already have the i3-3220, keep it, not much of an improvement if any to the FX 6300. If fact Tom's lists it at a higher tier than the FX 6300.

The rest of the components should be good for low-mid level gaming for GTA5 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. For Dying Light Game Debate lists the minimum CPU as an i5.

Ok thanks for the quick answer! I was debating if I should switch or not because the i3 that I am using came with a dell computer and the motherboard is a micro ATX and only has 2 ram slots, and isn't made for gaming. Do you think I would benefit by getting a better full ATX motherboard with more ram slots?
