Disabling Cores for Ryzen = Performance boost single core?

Hey guys! i havn't seen anything about ryzen yet

I have an 1800x atm and i'm loving it, Compared to be 8350 FX I've gotten massive FPS boosts in every game. However i was Lurking around youtube at random Bech and system builders reviews and i noticed one youtuber mentioned that by disabling 4 cores on a 1700x or 1800x that the Single threaded and gaming performance of the ryzen can come near or match that of the 7700k

Now i don't care too much about comparisons, my Actual question is, does Disabling cores actually help Single Thread performance? Would it be worth disabling 4 of my cores While im gaming and if i need more in the future, activate them?

Disabling cores isn't what helps, it's disabling SMT or their "hyperthreading." Intel had the same problem when hyperthreading came out but it was a long time ago. Based on benchmarks, looks like you get a 0-5% boost depending on the game. I'd leave it on, but if 8 physical threads is enough for you then you can try and see if it helps.
