2 sticks of 1866mhz or mixed at 1333mhz - Gaming/FPS increase?

Hi Guys,

Very simple one

I have 1 x 4gb stick of Corsair 1866mhz Vengeance ram + 1 x 4gb hynix 1333mhz ram (both running at 1333mhz of course)

This is temp as i had a bad 4gb vengeance stick sent to me via ebay

My question is in terms of gaming am i going to notice any kind of perforamce increase and/or increase in fps by runnign dual channel 1866mhz dual vengeance ram above what is currently in the system

I run bf1 on high at 40-70 fps with no issue with the mixed ram

before you say i know the hyinx vs the corsair is probably a pile of pants!

If you only use a 1866MHz RAM you will be getting a frequency of 1866MHz. But if you pair of with a 1333MHz RAM then your system will downscale the 1866MHz RAM to 1333MHz and both will run on 1333MHz. So it is not recommended to pair with 1333.

Yes thanks im aware both Dimm's will run at the lower speed of 1333mhz

but what im asking is am i actually going to notice a performance difference running dual channel 1866mhz ram rather than the two current mix and match sticks at 1333mhz

Would the general performance increase? would i see some fps gains

if your swapping out 2 sticks of 1333 for 2 sticks of 1866 you will see mabe 2-5fps increase, what you really need is got to 1866 but double your memory to get better speeds increases. BF! needs 16GB of Ram to run, Windows needs 4GB to run that 20GB needed, what are you running now ? anything under 32GB will run the system (assuming your doing 16GB) but your pagefile on your hard drive will be pretty big because windows will have to use the swap file to compensate.

which CPU is it?
if you are using a 1333MHz ram controller, you won´t see any raise in fps

also you could easily oc the ram to 1600 with a +1 Cl timing

860k x4 dual core, its stock @ .37ghz but going to OC to 4.2ghz

im using asrock FM288am extreme 4+

It says it has a built in 1866mhz memory controller

It picked up the XMP profile @ 1866 in the bios for the corsair 1866 ram

are these two running in dual channel mode?

2-3 FPS boost for getting to 1866MHz

Ok thanks guys looks like dual channel 1866 is the best approach as I think the mix of ram will upset itself anyway
