Is this a Motherboard issue?

Sorry for the really vague title. So I've been dealing with a major headache since black Friday of last year. Lets briefly start from the beginning... by the way here is the build I'm working with:

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/dujacobck/saved/NGq999

I'm using windows 10

My first attempt of building this machine ended with a MOBO that would not post (assuming DOA). The second MOBO I received worked great... until I noticed that when I bought a new SSD that it wouldn't detect it. Mind you, I have been using a Samsung 850 Pro (120GB), which I'm using for my OS and start up programs. When I try other non-Samsung drives, it (assuming my MOBO) won't detect them. Here's a complete list of drives I've tried.

Samsung 850 Pro (120GB; my OS) -- works but getting disk write errors
Sandisk (1TB SSD) -- (This was DOA as it didn't work in other computers)
Transcend (480GB SSD) x4 -- all not detected
Kingston (~480 GB SSD) x1 -- not detected
WD (2TB HDD) -- not detected
Samsung 850 EVO (~480GB) -- works but getting disk write errors

Troubleshooting:
In addition to trying the various drives above in 3 different (working) computers to see if the drives themselves were defective, I've:

1) Tried Reformatting
2) Checked for drive detection in both BIOS and Disk Management
3) Used different SATA ports on the MOBO with different SATA cables. I'm cycling 3 different cables (all of which detect the samsung drives)
4) Returned the MOBO for a 3rd one and same SATA port issue.
5) Built my pc and a friend's pc at the same time. The parts are the exact same. He is running into no issues and has no trouble detecting any of the ones listed above.

SO my questions to the community here. Is this a MOBO issue? Should I keep returning the MOBOs since I'm still in warrenty? Is this there another pc part that could possibly contribute to this (PSU seems to be powering everything else fine)? Am I just having really bad luck with MOBOs?

PS: My 3rd MOBO is being sent back now, so I can't really try something until it comes in a week or two, but I can tell you if I tried your solution already. I'm new, if I need to list parts here rather than through the link above I will.

Thank you for reading, I have been a lurker of the site for years, but finally decided to asked a question myself.

Solution
So, you tested 2 mobos and a lot of SSDs. With different SATA ports and SATA cables. Most of them not even detected in BIOS. Correct?
Now, two things coming to mind: BIOS update would be the first step when drives are not detected. And second step would be - check your PSU; specifically the cable that powers SATA devices.
Oh, and welcome to the forum.

Oops sorry I marked your answer as the solution for a second there. If you got notified as such I apologize. If your solution works I'll mark it later

To your response. I have tried updating the BIOs before and it said no update was available. Also the build I made for my friend the very same day works great out-of-box. He has nothing. So I sure it has to do with something being faulty/defective.

I haven't tried a new SATA power cable and that sounds somewhat promising, I hope my PSU came with two... I'll try that when the new MOBO comes in.

Thank you so very much. The SATA power was the issue. I'm back in the gaming world :D
