6 pin to 8 pin adapter safe for my situation?

I would like to know whether it is safe to use a 6 pin to 8 pin adapter to run a sapphire nitro rx 470 4gb(or any rx 470 with 8 pin connection)..?
My psu is umax 600w..it has a single 6 pin connector with 3 yellow wires and 3 ground wires.. (black)
My cpu is i3 3210 which uses only 55w..
I would like to know whether the card will be stable atleast at its stock speeds.... assuming I'm not trying to overclock it further..
Any kind of help will be greatly appreciated

That PSU is garbage, adding an adapter to it so it can double the power output on a connection not set up for it, is a REALLY BAD idea. Like house fire quality bad.

If the PSU doesn't have the connections you need, its not made to deal with the power...

Yes, that should be fine. HOWEVER, the UMax 600W PSU seems to be a low quality power supply and the thing I can't find is what the amperage for the 12V rail is. Either way, I think the adapter method should be fine for the RX470, it doesn't use too much power. I would suggest getting a better 600W PSU if you can afford it.

If the PSU doesn't have the connections you need, its not made to deal with the power draw.

Get a new PSU, even a Corsair CX450M which is less wattage would be better, because a 600w PSU that only has 6 pin connectors tells me its EXTREMELY overrated.

The amperage is given as 30 for 12 v rail@gasaraki
@rogue leader.. I know the PSU is of bad quality.. And I'm not expecting it to output 600w.. May be at least 450w..since my rig is not that power hungry I was thinking it wouldnt put that much load on the PSU....and also I heard the 6 pin connector with 3 yellow wires was similar to 8 pin without the ground wires that's why I hoped it would work
Sorry if I'm wrong here.. I'm not so good at these things
I won't be able to change the PSU anytime soon....as I changed it recently.. .. And the dealer told me it was good.. :(

The dealer was wrong. While it may show a rating, its likely not correct. Your rig isn't power hungry, but using an adaptor is still going to overdraw that connector.

ALL 6 pin connectors are the same as 8 pin in terms of wire arrangement, the 8 pin just has 2 grounds that allow it to draw twice the power. The fact your PSU omits this extra ground tells me, VERY CLEARLY, that it is not up to that task.

It may work fine for a few days, maybe even a week, or it could fail spectacularly, immediately, and take your equipment with it. And the chances of that are fairly high.

There is no scenario where using such an adapter on this PSU "should be fine", its bad advice. Your reccomendation is not correct, it should be "get a better PSU" period. Hence the downvote.

My god... like everyone else in this thread, get yourself a better PSU, that salesperson had NO idea what he was talking about when he sold you that PSU, and the power adapter could cause way more bad than good.

Actually I didn't buy the PSU directly.. My previous psu (iball 400w) wasnt working and I had given it for repair at a pc service centre.. He replaced it with this one.. I should have been more cautious...
I think I will stick with 6 pin rx 470....xfx/asus... I currently run slightly overclocked HD 7750....it seems to run fine even on load... Gaming isn't prominent at my place and people rarely make gaming systems and may be that's why the dealer was ignorant about this...
