Hi,

I have a quick question
Is a 4-way SLI possible on Nvidia Geforce HTX 1080 Ti?

(side note: it won't be possible to make a 1080 work with 1080 Ti, right?)

Thanks,
Legend

Solution
Nvidia has dropped official 4-way SLI support. There are a few benchmarks in which it is enabled with a special access code from Nvidia, but for gaming, it's not a thing anymore. At least not through Nvidia. DX12 and Vulkan dev's can code for it directly, but it sure to be an extremely rare thing if so.

Thanks for your responses bystander and TJ Hooker; that makes sense. I guess what confuses me is, https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/10series/geforce-gtx-1080-ti/ has a 4 way GEFORCE GTX SLI HB BRIDGE available for sale.

Following up, I guess a 2-way SLI is still possible and supported, right?

Ahh, that makes so much sense!
How does the physical distance impact performance (or I guess a better phrased question would be, what does the physical difference impact?)

Where do you get the code to unlock 4 way sli I'm interested in doing a 4 way 1080ti sli water cooled build so it would really help me too

Contact Nvidia, but be aware, it's only officially supported in a few benchmarks. I have heard of a DX 12 game with some support too, but only 1.

I can speak directly from experience on this. Mine are 3 space which means there is 2 slots between the cards themselves and since the cards are two slot cards there is ONE sli slot of space between my two 1080's. What ends up happening is under load my top card hits 85+C while the bottom card is only at 65C and then they throttle each other. I just put EVGA hybrid coolers on both of my 1080's and my performance went up almost 25% because they run the same temp and aren't being throttled.

The more space you put between the cards in SLI the better and if you are using a setup that has no extra spot between the two just forget it entirely. It's less that the top card has a smaller air flow path and more that the top cards only air flow path is the 65+ C back of the card below it.

So when someone says no effect that's only accurate on a card that might already run cool.
