I built a computer about a month ago and I've not been able to get a display. I've pressed the correct keys to get into the bios, nothing. I've tried everything that everyone has recommended. I know it's not my cable or monitor, because I've tried using 2 different cables and monitors. Can anyone help me?

Specs:

PSU: Shark ATX-500
CPU: AMD Athlon 860k
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-F2A68HM-H
GPU: EVGA GeForce GT 730
RAM: Kingston 2gb (buying new ram didn't feel like a worth-it investment if it doesn't work)
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 320gb

All parts are brand new out of the box, and I don't really know how to post a picture.

Solution
if your monitor has dvi and vga, use dvi, vga has his issues, so it has become a lot less popular and only present for compatibility reasons, if you don't he dvi, get one cable and while you get one use a dvi to vga converter on the gpu

just fell on the fact that the 860k has no gpu, forget removing the gpu, the mainboard is a fm2 and depends on the gpu that the cpu has or nothing will be shown, just be sure it is well seated in the pci express socket that 730

you didn't mentioned the mainboard standoffs i asked you if you used

other than that, or the psu is failing or the ram is being annoying with you or there is something on the picture i can't see, sorry

a picture of themainboard with all cables connected helps here alot, you might forgot to connect a cable or connected wrong the reset button

disconnect power led, hdd led, power and reset, only connect and make work power cable, post the rest of the information i asked please

Bought it over amazon a couple months ago, others have recommended getting a new one too. Do you think it would work?

the cpu is basically garbage you buy when you can't affor a real psu and you don't expect it to last longer than a couple months and don't care if it dies and kills the entire pc with it

i wouldn't use it

the ram, 2 gbs? really? only 2 gbs?

minimum for most people is 4, 8 to feel confortable

remove the gt 730 and try to turn on the pc again following my recomendations on the power buttons and led, you didn't posted the picture, we can't really help more without watching how you connected everything, use good light on the picture

When it starts to work properly, I plan to buy a single 8gb stick, I don't feel the need to buy it right now. And again, I don't know how to put in a picture

1. you did a decent enoug cable management there

2. that psu is garbage, i bet it cost you like 10 dollars or less

3. i can see the power and led cables conencted, remove them to be sure it is not resetting itself with a wrong connection of the reset cable

the gpu, can you remove it and conenct only the monitor to the mainboard?

in the upper right, that is the 4 pin cpu cable, be sure it is fully inserted

same for the ram sticks, in the picture seems to be well inserted but remove and reseat to discard problems there

still, i recomend you to get rid of that psu, return it as rma or ask your money back if possible

Did everything, and no I can't cause I don't have a 15 pin cable so now I should just buy a PSU?

15 pin?

not sure what are you talking about, a psu usually has some moles connectors, some sata connectors, some floppy connectors 1 4 or 8 pin power connector eatx for the cpu, 1 6 pin power connector for the gpu and 1 24 pin power connector for the mainboard

no idea what is the 15 pin you mention

the mainboard only has a 15 pin, vga port?

your monitor is vga only?

what inputs have the monitor? dvi? the mainboard has dvi and hdmi only? there are really cheap dvi to vga connectors

about the psu, it is your money, but if it was mine, i would return it, it is your decision, for this test lets try with another to discard the psu as a source of problems

do you have another psu to test the mainboard?

one thing i forgot to ask, did you use these under those screws?

The motherboard only has VGA, my GPU has 2 DVI and one Mini HDMI, and my monitor has both VGA and DVI. I will buy another PSU because I don't have one on hand.
