AMD FX 6300 still good enough for 2017?

Well the Question is up there. so.

I wanted to build myself a new PC, yet i found a PC in the attick with a AMD fx 6300 processor. Now im not a Techfreak and i couldn find a straight awnser too. so.

Is the AMD FX 6300 still useable/decent/viable(?) for 2017? Or do i have to get myself a new one? since i will be using the PC for mostly Gaming and Editing and all that. If so. any suggestions on which one i should get.

Depends. Do you want to play games at high-ultra settings? What graphics card is it paired with currently? The FX line is old, but it can still give a decent gaming experience.

Paired with a decent GPU, the 6300 will still game pretty well. However, current generation hardware will yield much better results for gaming and especially editing. The 6300 has 6 cores but those cores are annoyingly slow. A decent i5 from Haswell, Skylake, or Kaby Lake will smoke it with rendering times and games.

and i dont wanna play with ultra settings for now. just with atleast Med to High settings. so the game should be playable yet good lookin.

A GTX780 will pair up good with a FX6300. What's the motherboard and rest of the specs? You may be able to overclock it.

Also, if you decided to build a new system, what is your budget? The FX6300/GTX780 combo would definitely give you time to save up for a good full upgrade.

I have a Case but i guess i will get myself another one. and for the motherboard. i really havent found one yet. one that doesnt cost over 60€ and still is compatible with the AMD. i guess ill be using the one on which i found the AMD.

for the budget id say 400-600€

you said you found a pc with and FX6300, does it not have a motherboard? how about memory ?
and you say you have a GTX 780, that's a good combo, so your budget is 400-600euros, what country maybe I can track pieces down.
also do you have keyboard, mouse and monitor?

1. 1050ti would be pointless on a fx6300, but if you pushed to an 8350 maybe.
2. DDR4 doesn't work with FX series CPU.

I run 6300 locked in at 4ghz and dual r9 270s with mild overclock. 8800 firestrike score and enjoyable 1080p mid to high settings gaming. Good cheap fun

the fx line is old but can still be good. I've got one in my system but an old sandybridge i5 is still able to defeat the fx-6300. honestly, perhaps get the athlon x4 880k. higher frequency and faster cores.
