Hello i currently have an AMD Athlon II X4 860K and i think its definitely time for an upgrade

I was recently looking at a bundle of a I3 6100 , 8GB DDR4 RAM and a ASUS H110M-A motherboard all for about £225 and was considering this for starter as i would be later upgrading my CPU to an i5 6500 sort of range

But then i stumbled upon another deal of a Pentium G4400 with 8GB DDR4 but now with a ASUS Z170-P for only £210 !!!! and this way i would now be able to be a unlocked i5 later down the line such as a 7600k or 6600k and actually be able to overclock it

So what do you think? spend the extra money now for the i3 with the worse motherboard or get the worse processor but with a better motherboard ??

Solution
By the way, the G4400 + 8GB DDR4 + ASUS Z170-P deal can be obtained same price:

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws 4 series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2400 Memory (£59.30 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £213.09

The i3-6100 + 8GB DDR4 + ASUS H110M-A deal is a bit more expensive:

CPU: Intel Core...
I'd get the G4400 + Z170-P combo. It's much harder and hassle to change motherboards than the CPU. The Z170 allows you the opportunity to go with the K processors (even a Kaby Lake once you have updated the mb's BIOS). If you go with the H110M, you're pretty much stuck with locked CPUs at best.

Solution
From my experience helping other people decide on something like this, it's only worth it if you are really going to buy an unlocked CPU and are really going to overclock it AND you're going to do it soon enough that it matters.

What I mean is, if 2018 ends and 2019 begins and you're just starting to think about grabbing a CPU to overclock, it's pointless.

Thanks for your help i was planning on buying the new cpu and mobo in about 5 months time and then further upgrading the cpu at around 3 months later and thought if i got the z170 mobo i could then buy an unlocked i5 , i was also planning on buying either the Corsair H45 or the Corsair 100i AIO to go with this CPU for overclocking thanks
