Hi I've just bought corsair select value ram and mixed it with my hyperx ram and it's not doing anything when I turn it on . It does the normal processes such as fans spinning and all of the normal lights turn on but it isn't posting , just a black screen . I've tried taking the corsair ram out and just using the hyperx ram but that isn't working on its own now . HELP ME!!

Solution

Your motherboard is probably fine. Take out your Video card. Boot up. Wait like 5 minutes. Hold down the power button till it shuts off. Reinstall your video card. And see if it works.

CMOS is the settings your BIOS uses to boot. Clearing it restores it to factory settings and may remove the bug you created. Unplug your PC and look for a flat, silver battery on your motherboard. Remove it and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Place it back in and boot again.

On the lower right hand corner of your motherboard you will see the F Panel (Where your power, reset, speaker etc are). To the left of that, there should be two pins labeled CLR_CMOS. If there is a little "jumper" on it (a little plastic piece that fits over the pins) place the jumper on both of the pins to clear the CMOS. Ensure that your PC is turned off and unplugged while doing this. If you don't have the jumper then use a screw driver or other metallic object and touch both pins with it at the same time. Let the jumper or screw driver tip sit on both pins for a few seconds and then remove it. Plug your PC back in and attempt to boot.

I've done that and bridged it for 15 seconds . The lights are lighting up on the motherboard signaling it's on . Before I asked this question and tried these it turned on and worked with both of the ram sticks in but only recognised 1 stick so stupidly when it was on i took it out and stuck it back in . I think it may have shorted but the orange light is fully on and the cpu fan is constantly spinning and the gpu fan spins when I turn it on and stops as it isn't been used .

Sounds like you may have damaged your motherboard. You should never remove components while powered up.
